An Appeal from the BBC
Did you family live in York exactly one hundred years ago? Have you mapped your family tree? If so, a BBC documentary needs your help!
We're trying to trace descendants of the following eight families who lived in York in 1910 and who took part in a ground-breaking survey of unemployment carried out in the city by the Quaker philanthropist Seebohm Rowntree.
If you have links to these family names – NEVINSON, TAYLOR, CAMPBELL, DUNN, RAFFERTY, MARTIN, LOVELL, ARCHER – please click on the following link to see if you might be able to help: http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/features/features/4887071.print/

The Edwardians is an eight-part British mini-series from 1972 that looks at nine influential personalities from the ‘Belle Epoque’ period in British history. The DVD explores the lives of some who helped define this era, the inventors, artists, writers, performers, soldiers, politicians who would shape a nation in their own fields, in their own lifetime, in their own way. We have a copy of The Edwardians to give away to three lucky readers who sends a correct answer to the following question to fhm@metropolis.co.uk by 4th March.
Q: What was the first name of Mr Rolls of Rolls-Royce fame?
